I have the honour by command of the Master General and Board of Ordnance to acknowledge the receipt of your letter dated the 14 instant enclosing a draft of a dispatch which the Secretary of State for the Colonial Department proposes to address to the Governor of Hong Kong with a view to the adoption of measures for reducing the expenditure of that Colony.
The Master General and Board request you will lay before Earl Grey the enclosed Copy of a report from the Assistant Inspector General of Fortifications.
